Effect of Ceramic Thickness and Cement Color on Final Shade of All Ceramic Restorations: A Systematic Review

چکیده
One important aspect of dental restorations is esthetic. Although ceramic restorations are usually undertaken for esthetic reasons, several factors can affect their results. This study was undertaken to systematically review articles addressing the effect of ceramic thickness and luting cement color on the final restoration color. This systematic review was based on PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses) guidelines. The study question was determined according to PICO (population, intervention, comparison and outcome). The issue under study was the effect of ceramic thickness and cement shade on the final color of ceramic crowns or veneers. A literature search was done in the PubMed and Medline databases using relevant keywords for the period from 2006 to 2016 and was limited to articles in the English language. The articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and were evaluated qualitatively. The internet search resulted in 109 articles. Following application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, 17 studies were included in the systematic review. IPS Empress was the most assessed ceramic. It was found that the effect of ceramic thickness and cement shade on restoration color differed among studies because of the use of different ceramics and cements. This review showed that the thickness of the ceramic and the cement shade can affect the optical properties and color of all-ceramic restorations. Several factors influence the effect of the ceramic thickness and cement shade on restoration color.

Main Factors Affecting the Final Color of Ceramic RestorationsRunning Title: Final Color of Ceramic Restorations
Color is one of the integral parts of esthetic dentistry that affects the satisfaction of patients with their restorations. Because of the complexity of the optical properties of the natural teeth, color reproduction is one of the most challenging issues which the clinicians encounter with [1] Ceramic restorations are applicable in situations with high esthetic demands. They can mimic the appea...

PURPOSE The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of abutment shade, ceramic thickness, and coping type on the final shade of zirconia all-ceramic restorations. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three different types of disk-shaped zirconia coping specimens (Lava, Cercon, Zirkonzahn: ø10 mm × 0.4 mm) were fabricated and veneered with IPS e.max Press Ceram (shade A2), for total thicknesses of 1 and ...
متن کاملEffect of brand and shade of resin cements on the final color of lithium disilicate ceramic.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Resin cements are available in various shades from different manufacturers. However, there is no standard for the optical properties of these cements, which may result in differences in the color of translucent ceramic restorations. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of different shades and brands of resin cements on the color of a lith...

In this study, the effects of the color of different post-core materials and different colored cements on the color and esthetic of all-ceramic restorations were investigated. Three groups of post-cores (ceramic, Cr-Ni and Cr-Ni + opaque), one sample per each group, were prepared as discs 14 ± 0.05 mm in diameter and 1.5 ± 0.05 mm in thickness. A total of 40 cement samples, 10 per each group (o...

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to assess the influence of various ceramic thicknesses and luting agents on color variation in five ceramic systems. METHODS Fifteen disc-shaped ceramic specimens (11 mm diameter; shade A3) were fabricated with each of the six veneering ceramics tested, with 1, 1.5, or 2 mm thickness (n=5). Resin composite discs (Z-250, shade C4) were used as bases to simu...
